Ingredients

  • - 2 pieces Store-Bought Naan or Flatbread plain or garlic (approx. 200g total)
  • - ½ lb 225g Lean Ground Beef (90/10)
  • - 1 cup 240g Whole-Milk Ricotta Cheese
  • - ½ cup 50g Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • - 2 cups 60g Fresh Baby Spinach
  • - 2 tbsp 30ml Extra Virgin Olive Oil, divided
  • - 1 tbsp 14g Grass-Fed Butter
  • - 2 cloves Fresh Garlic finely minced
  • - 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • - ½ tsp Kosher Salt
  • - ¼ tsp Freshly Cracked Black Pepper
  • - ¼ cup Fresh Basil Leaves chiffonade sliced
  • - ¼ tsp Crushed Red Pepper Flakes optional

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a large rimmed baking sheet on the middle rack while heating.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil and 1 tbsp butter in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cook for 5 minutes until browned.
  3. Add minced garlic to the beef during the last 60 seconds of cooking, tossing until fragrant. Transfer meat to a plate using a slotted spoon.
  4. Add baby spinach to the remaining garlic drippings in the skillet. Sauté for 1 minute until tender and wilted, then remove from heat.
  5. In a small bowl, season ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and a light drizzle of olive oil.
  6. Brush remaining olive oil over top surfaces of bare naan flatbreads.
  7. Layer flatbreads evenly: shredded mozzarella base, wilted garlic spinach, browned ground beef, and dollops of seasoned ricotta.
  8. Carefully place loaded flatbreads onto the preheated baking sheet. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes until naan edges are golden brown and cheese is melted.
  9. Remove from oven and immediately top with fresh basil ribbons and crushed red pepper flakes. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

- For extra crunch, pre-toast bare naan directly on the oven rack for 2 minutes per side before topping.
- Ground lamb or ground turkey can be substituted 1:1 for ground beef.
