Ingredients

  • - 4 salmon fillets about 6 oz each, skin-on or skinless
  • - 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • - 1/4 cup fresh cilantro or flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
  • - Salt and freshly cracked black pepper to taste
For the Honey Garlic Glaze:
  • - 1/3 cup raw honey
  • - 3 tbsp soy sauce or tamari for gluten-free
  • - 4 cloves garlic finely minced
  • - 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • - 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes optional

Method

  1. PREPARE: Pat salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. WHISK: In a small bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes. Whisk until honey is fully dissolved.
  3. SEAR: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Place salmon fillets in the pan (skin-side down first if using skin-on). Sear undisturbed for 4-5 minutes until a deep golden, caramelized crust forms.
  4. FLIP & GLAZE: Carefully flip the fillets. Reduce heat to medium. Pour the honey garlic glaze directly into the skillet around the salmon.
  5. BASTE: As the glaze simmers and bubbles, use a spoon to continuously scoop up the warm sauce and pour it over the top of the fillets. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce reduces into a glossy, thick glaze and salmon flakes easily.
  6. GARNISH: Remove skillet from heat. Toss the chopped fresh herbs generously over the glazed fillets, basting one last time. Serve warm.
